One of our favorite parts of a wedding weekend is watching the celebration begin long before guests arrive at the ceremony. A thoughtfully planned rehearsal dinner sets the tone for the weekend, gives families the opportunity to connect, and creates an intimate experience that feels completely different from the wedding day itself.

For Meghan and Trevor, we wanted their rehearsal dinner to feel relaxed, welcoming, and interactive while still reflecting the elevated style of the wedding weekend. Carnegie Hall in Covington, Kentucky was the perfect setting for their celebration.
Located just minutes from downtown Cincinnati, Carnegie Hall offers historic character, beautiful architecture, and an intimate atmosphere that is ideal for rehearsal dinners, welcome parties, and smaller wedding events.
Why Carnegie Hall is a Wonderful Rehearsal Dinner Venue Near Cincinnati

Finding the right rehearsal dinner venue can be surprisingly difficult. Many restaurants don’t offer private spaces that feel special enough, while larger event venues can feel oversized for an intimate gathering.
Carnegie Hall strikes the perfect balance.
For Meghan and Trevor’s rehearsal dinner, approximately 50 guests gathered to celebrate before the wedding day. The venue felt full of energy without ever feeling crowded, creating an atmosphere where everyone could comfortably mingle throughout the evening.
Guests began the night with cocktails downstairs before spilling out onto the outdoor patio to enjoy the warm summer evening. The separate cocktail space naturally encouraged conversation and gave everyone an opportunity to catch up before dinner.
When it was time to eat, everyone was invited upstairs for dinner, creating a seamless transition that made the evening feel intentional and well-paced.
An Interactive Pasta Station by Delightmore
One of the biggest highlights of the evening was the incredible interactive pasta station created by Delightmore, the exclusive owner and caterer for Carnegie Hall.
Rather than serving a traditional plated meal or buffet, guests were able to customize their own pasta from start to finish.
Each guest selected:
- Their preferred pasta shape
- Sauce
- Vegetables
- Protein
- Additional toppings
A chef then prepared every dish individually, sautéing and tossing each order fresh in front of guests before serving it.
Not only was the food delicious, but the experience itself became entertainment.
Guests gathered around the station, chatted while waiting for their meals, compared combinations, and enjoyed watching each dish come together. It created a relaxed, interactive dining experience that felt perfect for a rehearsal dinner where conversation is the priority.
For smaller guest counts, this type of live-action station keeps dinner moving while creating a memorable experience that guests continue talking about long after the weekend is over.
A Design That Hinted at the Wedding Day
One of our favorite design approaches for rehearsal dinners is creating something that complements the wedding day without feeling like a preview of what’s to come.
For Meghan and Trevor, we designed a space filled with bright summer florals accented by beautiful blue and green details.
The overall look felt cheerful, elegant, and welcoming while intentionally stopping short of revealing the full wedding design planned for the following day.
We always encourage couples to think of their rehearsal dinner as the opening chapter of the wedding weekend rather than a smaller version of the reception. Giving each event its own personality makes the entire weekend feel more thoughtfully curated.
The Little Details That Made the Evening Easy

One feature we especially appreciated was Delightmore’s built-in speaker system.
Rather than coordinating additional audio rentals, family members were able to easily give heartfelt toasts throughout dinner using the venue’s in-house sound system.
It’s one of those small conveniences that makes planning much simpler and helps rehearsal dinners flow effortlessly.
As planners, we always appreciate venues that anticipate the logistical needs of wedding events, allowing couples to focus on enjoying time with the people who traveled to celebrate with them.
Planning a Full Wedding Weekend

Your rehearsal dinner is more than just a meal after the ceremony rehearsal.
It’s often the first opportunity for both families to spend meaningful time together, for wedding party members to relax before the excitement of the wedding day, and for out-of-town guests to officially kick off the celebration.
When thoughtfully planned, the rehearsal dinner becomes an important part of the overall guest experience—not simply another item on the timeline.
Choosing an intimate venue like Carnegie Hall allows couples to create a completely different atmosphere than the wedding itself while still delivering an elevated experience.
