Why Experience Matters at The Arcade
One thing that makes planning weddings at The Dayton Arcade especially exciting for our team is how familiar we are with the space and how many creative possibilities it offers.
Amy knows the venue exceptionally well after giving tours throughout part of 2025 while the Arcade transitioned under new management. Spending so much time in the building gave her firsthand experience with the flow of the venue, event logistics, guest movement, lighting opportunities, and all the little details that make a huge difference on wedding days.
At a venue as large and unique as the Arcade, that kind of familiarity is invaluable.

Choosing Between The Tank & North Arcade for Cocktail Hour
The Tank is one of the most unique cocktail hour spaces in Dayton. It has an industrial, moody, almost speakeasy-like atmosphere that creates a completely different experience from the main Rotunda reception space.
For larger guest counts, The Tank works incredibly well because there’s plenty of room for guests to spread out comfortably while still feeling connected to the energy of the event.
One of our favorite ideas? A live saxophone player in the theater area of The Tank. The acoustics and ambiance create such a fun, upscale cocktail-hour experience.
But if your guest count is under 225 and cocktail hour can begin after 6 PM, we absolutely love using the North Arcade instead.
Located between the Hilton Garden Inn Dayton Downtown and the Rotunda, the North Arcade has a much lighter, airier atmosphere with gorgeous natural light and an open feel that contrasts beautifully with the dramatic reception setup upstairs.
Both spaces are fantastic — it just depends on the vibe you want for your wedding day.

Creative Ways to Use The Tank Screens
One of the most overlooked design opportunities at The Dayton Arcade is the built-in screen system inside The Tank.
We love using these screens for:
- Digital seating charts
- Custom monograms
- Engagement photos
- Welcome messages
- Signature drink graphics
- Wedding-day slideshows
Displaying the seating chart downstairs before guests return to the Rotunda for dinner is especially helpful for guest flow and makes the transition into reception much smoother.
Don’t Skip Styling the Island Space
The island space between the entrance to The Tank and the theater area is the perfect opportunity for a statement floral moment or styled hors d’oeuvres display.
Without décor, this section can feel slightly rigid architecturally, so adding florals, candles, or color here softens the space beautifully and makes cocktail hour feel much more intentional and cohesive.
If your budget allows, this is absolutely an area worth investing in.
Our Biggest Reception Recommendation: Dome Lighting
If there is one upgrade we would recommend over almost anything else at The Dayton Arcade, it’s dome lighting through Legacy Event Group.
Truly — it completely transforms the Rotunda.
The custom lighting highlights the architecture of the dome in a way that changes the entire feel of the reception space. It creates warmth, drama, and dimension that simply can’t be replicated with standard venue lighting alone.
We also highly recommend adding uplighting around the pillars throughout the Rotunda. The combination of dome lighting and uplighting makes an enormous visual impact in photos and in person.

Have Fun with Your Floor Plan
One of the best things about the Arcade is that you are not locked into a traditional ballroom setup.
Don’t be afraid to get creative with your reception layout:
- Mix round and long tables
- Add lounge areas
- Create curved table layouts
- Play with asymmetry
- Add multiple bars throughout the space
The architecture can handle bold floor plans beautifully.
Why We Usually Skip Dance Floor Rentals at The Arcade
Although custom dance floors are allowed at the Arcade, we actually don’t think they’re always necessary in this venue.
The existing floors already have so much texture, pattern, and visual interest that adding another layer can sometimes compete with the architecture instead of enhancing it.
If you’re deciding where to allocate your budget, we would almost always prioritize:
- Dome lighting
- Uplighting
- Draping
- Florals
- Statement bars
…before investing in a custom dance floor here.

Draping Completely Changes the Rotunda
Draping is another design element that can dramatically transform the reception space.
You can:
- Drape the full Rotunda
- Drape half the space
- Drape only three sections behind the head table
- Create soft architectural backdrops
- Add romantic texture and warmth
Prime Time Party Rental handles standard draping beautifully, but if you’re looking for a more elevated or fully custom installation, we also love working with Unlimited Events.
Room Flips at The Arcade Require Serious Planning
If you’re hosting both your ceremony and reception in the Rotunda, your event will likely require a room flip — and this is definitely not a venue where you want to “wing it.”
The flip process at the Arcade is incredibly intricate and requires:
- A detailed timeline
- Strategic vendor coordination
- Experienced setup crews
- Clear communication
- Strong floor-plan planning
This is one of the biggest reasons we strongly recommend hiring a coordinator or planner who already knows the space well.
Preparation is everything here, and having an experienced team can make the difference between a stressful transition and a seamless guest experience.
Stay at the Hilton Garden Inn
One of the biggest logistical perks of hosting your wedding at The Dayton Arcade is the attached Hilton Garden Inn Dayton Downtown.
Booking your room block and wedding-night suite there makes the entire weekend dramatically easier for both you and your guests.
One of our favorite planner perks? At the end of the night, we can pack up your personal belongings, gifts, décor items, and emergency items and bring them directly to your hotel room — no extra transportation needed.
After a long wedding day, that convenience is huge.
A Hidden Gem: Table 33
Many couples don’t realize that Table 33 is also available for private events connected to Arcade weddings.
It’s such a great option for:
- Rehearsal dinners
- Farewell brunches
- Welcome parties
- Post-wedding brunches
And since it’s located right within the Arcade complex, it keeps the entire wedding weekend feeling connected and convenient for guests.
